Meet the FOunders

Rebecca PIERCE

Prior to founding Pierce & Groves, Rebecca was a senior lawyer at a prestigious central London firm, and worked within the family law industry for the better part of a decade.

Whilst Rebecca formerly advised on all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedies, and children matters, she specialised in high net worth and ultra-high net worth privately funded cases, often involving jurisdictional issues, or disputes with complex financial elements.

Why Rebecca?

Rebecca has considerable litigation experience, but is equally very well versed in achieving results outside of court. She has always been utterly client centric in her approach, and tailors her work to her clients’ preferences and goals. As a result, Rebecca has received regular praise in the past from her clients for being “incredibly empathetic” and “seeing the bigger picture”. However, what sets Rebecca apart from the rest is her ability “to disarm and charm” those with whom she is conversing with, immediately putting her clients at ease.

Rebecca’s lateral move into divorce consultancy is driven by her desire to plug what she feels is a major gap in the industry – an essential support and guidance service for clients going through the divorce process.

Putting Rebecca’s professional experience to one side, she also has personal experience of divorce that some might consider to be unique. Rebecca is a child of divorce: her parents divorced when she and her sibling were young. Despite there being clear sadness surrounding the physical separation of her parents, it was a family transition which felt almost seamless, and one where all concerned felt fortunate and protected.

There is, of course, no denying that a divorce is a stressful and life-altering event, but Rebecca truly believes that with her assistance and the right support network, the process can be far less traumatic, as well as more efficient and cost effective.

Education / Qualifications / Accolades

Rebecca read Law at the University of Exeter, and subsequently completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Holborn.

Latterly, Rebecca has been consistently featured in the Legal 500 as a “key lawyer”.

sophie groves

Prior to founding Pierce & Groves, Sophie was a director at a leading family law firm where she specialised in the resolution of financial arrangements upon divorce, with a particular focus on resolving complex financial issues for both married and unmarried individuals.

A high proportion of her cases involved jurisdictional issues, offshore trusts and complex corporate structures. Sophie also had a particular interest in pre and post nuptial agreements.

With the benefit of her professional and personal experiences, Sophie decided to leave the law and focus on divorce consultancy. At Pierce & Groves, her focus is on helping clients with the practical and emotional issues associated with the divorce process, and to work with her clients to move on and not let a divorce define them, or their family.

Why Sophie

Sophie’s parents divorced when she was fourteen and she vividly recalls the impact their separation and subsequent litigation had on the family. Sophie does not believe that a hard fought litigious divorce is the right path for the majority of people. Ultimately, Sophie wants to ensure the best outcome for her clients and she adapts her advice and tactics accordingly, but she is not afraid to offer her clients robust practical advice to attempt to shield them and their families from highly stressful proceedings, where appropriate.

During her career as a divorce lawyer, Sophie had many reported cases, however, she measures her success in the cases that she settled, and became known as the “settlement queen” among her colleagues due to the number of highly favourable out of court settlements that she helped to negotiate for the benefit of her clients.

Sophie is often praised by her clients for her “wisdom”, her “firmness (when needed)” and her ability to think creatively in order to achieve the best results.

Sophie is quickly able to assess each relationship and divorce on its own facts and narrow down the issues and areas of conflict. This in turn allows for constructive channels of communication to be opened up with the hope of promoting a swift and cost effective resolution.

Education / Qualifications / Accolades

Sophie read Politics at Durham University, and subsequently completed her Graduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law (Bloomsbury) and her Legal Practice Course at Kaplan Law School.

As a lawyer, Sophie was ranked as a “rising star” by Spear’s Magazine in 2021 and 2022 and was identified as a key individual in the Legal 500 Directory. In addition, her expertise was often sought by the media for comment on noteworthy family law developments and cases.
